A Day in the Life of Corey Prinz, Benefits Specialist, Tempe, AZ

Keep reading to discover what a typical day consists of for Corey Prinz, Benefits Specialist, in our Tempe, Arizona office.

Wednesday, May 2nd

7:00 AM: I arrive at our Tempe, AZ office and set up my laptop to start the day. I start my day with chugging about a ½ liter of water… I’ve found that staying hydrated helps me be productive. I then review all my emails to plan my day accordingly. I reply to carriers first to ensure they get the information needed to process any requests, then review any client emails that need attention.

7:30 AM: Once the emails are completed, I grab my normal breakfast… Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal and a string cheese or two.

8:00 AM: I manage all of our Offline COBRA enrollees and I check their payments, enrollments and account details throughout the day. Each morning I double check with Finance to ensure any new checks are applied to each offline COBRA enrollee’s account and ensure their payments are updated.

9:00 AM: Our manager arrives and cases are triaged and assigned out to our team. I prioritize my cases by urgency and carrier. Once I prioritize my cases, I start working with clients to ensure their requests are processed timely and the carrier has the correct information on file.

10:00 AM: Throughout the day, clients are carriers are replying to requests. While their requests may not be urgent in all situations, I feel it is best to reply to their questions/requests as soon as possible. Ensuring their questions/requests are replied to quickly ensures their confidence that Zenefits is able to help and will quickly work to better their client experience.

11:30 AM: Lunch has been set up and it is time to take a break. Some days I will eat lunch that is provided and other days I might head out for a meal. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop on Mill Ave. has some awesome chips and queso — definitely a local favorite.

12:30 PM: I am currently working on a project to transition our COBRA Administration to COBRA Complete. I work with the San Francisco Product Operations and Engineering teams to help with this transition. My focus is on client communication and ensuring clients are transitioned smoothly, while correcting any errors that may happen on the client level.  

2:00 PM: As the day winds down, I check my queue for any replies from clients or carriers, along with completing any new cases that may come in. I ensure all responses are completed and clients are provided expectations on the completion of the request. I also assist our Customer Care Associates throughout the day on COBRA Questions.

3:00 PM: As the day winds down, I get organized and wrap things up to be in good shape for tomorrow morning. From the office I’ll head home, let my dog out and watch the NBA Finals – Golden State has a solid chance to repeat!
