What’s the best part about your job?
As a manager at Zenefits, working with my team is the best part of my job. The SSB Team (our abbreviation for Super Small Business) in Broker Services is comprised of incredibly intelligent and driven individuals that are focused and willing to take chances. Our team’s culture is derived from its peoples’ passion and excitement for what we’re trying to accomplish. You can see it through the relationships we build with our customers and through the way we take care of our own – we always have each other’s back! It’s wonderful to walk in every day and know that your team cares – about Zenefits, our customers, and most importantly, about making a difference. I’m thankful and honored to work with these great people!
What was your hardest day at Zenefits?
At any great job there are always going to be challenges that force you to dig deep. These hurtles force you to flex different muscles and explore a part of you that you may have never known before. For me, it’s always challenging when someone you look up to takes a leap of faith and moves on to a new career path or company. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible people at Zenefits and have inspired me to do great things over the past three years. While seeing them move on has certainly been tough, forming those relationships that remain so close have all been worth it.
What do you love to do outside of work?
This is a question I love to answer! Many at Zenefits (especially at our HQ in SF), know that I’m an indoor cycling instructor (yes, SPIN!!!). I’ve been teaching spin since 2012 when I started at Equinox Fitness in South Beach, Florida. I LOVE helping people achieve their goals and helping combat what the narrow projection of supposed “perfection” is. There is nothing better or more rewarding to me than helping others set and achieve their goals. As I always remind my students, “This is your ride! You get to make the rules. It’s up to you to stay focused and achieve your goal! Only you can mess it up!” This is true during spin class, but also in life!
You win the Super Mega Mega Lottery (yes we made that up) and are financially set for the rest of your life. How do you spend your first year?
Well, first and foremost I would pay off my house in Scottsdale, AZ. Next, I would pay Sallie Mae off (my fellow millennials know the struggle!). Then, I’d move back to Miami Beach and purchase a nice bungalow in the “South of Fifth” neighboorhood of South Beach. I’d then take some time to travel so I can add to my current count of 25 countries. Upon my return to the States, I’d open up several spin studios and live happily ever after – the dream!
